The kennel office is open daily, except for Christmas and Thanksgiving day. Hours of operation are 9 am - noon and 3 pm - 6 pm. Arrivals may check in after 3 pm (this does not apply to locals leaving the island) and departures are expected before noon. A late fee of $10.00 is added to any pet arriving after 6 pm and before 8 pm. This allows the staff cleaning time before the next residents arrive. The manager does live on the property and is very flexible, especially if there is a call for an evacuation. If special drop off times or pick up times are required, please speak with the manager directly.
Our cat room is equipped to handle up to 8 cats. The kennels in each cat cage has different levels for them to climb on, a litter box, and scratching area. The cat room has an independent heating and cooling system as well as a large window allowing them to see the outdoors. Cats are frequently allowed the time to explore the cat room and get a wide area of freedom. Guests are encouraged to come and visit with their cats while staying with us.

The OBX Pet Boarding Kennel is located in Frisco, NC on beautiful Hatteras Island. It provides guests visiting the island a place to board their pets on vacation as well as a place for locals to leave their pet while traveling away. Locals receive a 20% on all boarding rates. Guests are encouraged to take their pets with them sightseeing or to the beach while boarding with us. We provided DAYCARE as well as NIGHTLY boarding. Guests staying in Pet Friendly rental homes are invited to use our Daycare while visiting the nearby Ocracoke Island, Portsmouth Island or Roanoke Island.
Each of our 22 dog kennels is 4x 6 ft on the inside, which is climate controlled, and connects through a doorway to the outside run, which is 4 x 10 ft. Each is capable of housing two family dogs. Two large golden retrievers fit very nicely in to our spacious runs. The connecting doorway is open and closed daily by the kennel staff, based upon weather conditions and mosquito population. On many of our beautiful Hatteras Island nights, the runs may be left open to allow the dogs more room to move around and a moon to howl at. 
Dogs are also given several walks down Henry Street, located right next door to the kennel. There is a pathway from the kennel to Henry Street so no dogs will be walked on busy NC Highway 12. The walk down and back takes approximately 20 minutes, allowing dogs to stay in their normal routine of walking and giving them an opportunity to use a grassy area to use the restroom. 
Along with daily walks, the dogs have 3 different fenced in grassy areas to walk, run, or play. One of these areas is our new playground overlooking a beautiful canal. The playground has toys and pools for the dogs to enjoy. It is also a place where guests can visit with their dog while being boarded here. During the off season the playground is open to the public. 
The reservation page is available for all new reservations for the 2012 season. A staff member will contact you by phone to confirm your reservation. One week prior to your visit, we will contact your veterinarian to get a current copy of your vaccine records. Written certification from your veterinarian that your pet has all current immunizations is mandatory. Dogs and cats must be inoculated against rabies and Distemper/Parvo. Dogs must have a Bordetella (Canine Kennel Cough) vaccine. A Feline Leukemia vaccination is not required, but highly recommended. Hatteras had a very mild winter this year and is expecting a high number of insects, especially fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. We STRONGLY urge you to have your pets treated for fleas, ticks, Lymes disease and heartworms. Any dog showing up with fleas will be turned away until the fleas are removed. Please be advised that the closest veterinarian is one hour away, but several do visit the island on specific dates.
